travel log…
I’ll start from the beginning. I left San Antonio, TX at 4 pm on September 11. I arrived in Detroit with just enough time to jog 60 gates down, meet up with the rest of the group, and board the overnight flight to Amsterdam. Since we were flying East towards the rising sun, the “night” only lasted a few hours. From Amsterdam we flew into Rome, arriving around 4 pm September 12. The trip wasnt quite over yet though; our intern, Kyle, picked us up at the Rome airport in a charter bus, and we drove another 3-4 hours to Florence, stopping for dinner along the way. We arrived home to our Tuscan villa around 10 pm. Total travel time ended up remarkably close to 24 hours, so needless to say we were fairly exhausted. We had a short orientation meeting, then collapsed in our beds and passed out for the evening.
